The Gilmour Foamaster II is no foam lance, but an affordable alternative that shall allow for an individual to hopefully speed up the car washing process. I won't get into the results this sprayer is capable of, as its irrelevant information. The end product (the clean car) matters more on the persons attention to detail and products and methods used.First impressions the handle is more or less a conventional harden hose sprayer, covered in a plastic handle that threatens to split in half if it were to drop on to the driveway. I recommend wrapping a zip tie around the handle to keep the halves from splitting apart... The handle then has a sprayer with a retaining ring that allows the canister and nozzle to quickly attach and detach. Personally, I frequently am removing the nozzle from the handle and spray down my car with the less restrictive nozzle. This retaining ring also more importantly allows the canister to rotate freely. The sprayer is very simple to use and doesn't require much thinking. I fill the canister with my choice of car wash soap, no need to mix water as the sprayer automatically mixes the water depending on how the dial is set at the top. The settings range from no mix, light, and to "heavy" foam, as stated before this won't give you the best results like a foam lance or cannon, but it works. My process:- rinse car with water- hit it with a heavy foam layer- let sit for 10 minutes ( not in direct sun)- rinse with water- shoot again with heavy foam layer- while waiting for foam to sit i attack my rims and exhaustOnce that is complete I then run around my car in sections hitting areas specifically with foam and a wash mitt. I always rinse it off in a clean bucket with grit guard. I have 2 mitts; 1 for the upper portion of my car, and another for the lower panels (more dirty, grimy areas).- Rinse off the car one last time- Dry off- WaxYou should have a decent looking car after you're done in less time than it usually takes performing the 2 bucket method. I would recommend this product, its not perfect, nor feels like a high quality product necessarily, but it performs reasonably well for the price. This foamaster is a nice quality foam gun. It could use some improvement in one area, but it is still one of the better foam guns that hooks up to the water hose. Using it just makes washing my cars easier, faster, and with better end results. I mostly use chemical guys Citrus wash and gloss soap with it. A few ounces of the soap and it foams up really nicely with the gun just on the second setting. The foam reduces the chance of getting swirl marks when washing your car, but my favorite thing about the foam is that you the soap is already on the car. So you dont need much soap in the bucket to get your car washed properly. Just enough soap in a bucket of water to soak your wash pad and get a few suds on the pad is enough. The gun is made of plastic. A durable plastic, but its still plastic. That isnt why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 though, because everything seems to be made out of plastic these days. I think the gun is durable enough for me to get my moneys worth out of it, but I like it so much I ordered a second one for when this one finally breaks. Anyway the reason I gave the foamaster II 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the detachable spray gun itself. The gun for some reason only shoots out a stream of water which isnt a deal breaker, but I really dont like hitting my car with a heavy stream of water and with spray gun no matter how you adjust the nozzle or press the trigger you just can not get it to shoot a spray of water.I purchased this to wash my 2018 Sierra truck and it works great! Let me start by telling you my previous method. I was using a Sun Joe 2030 psi pressure washer with a foam canon. The cons for myself were having to move around the pressure washer, garden hose, power cord, and pressure hose (20 ft.) around a large truck. A 50 ft. hose would have solved those issues, but I didn’t want so spend an additional $70+ for that. However the biggest inconvenience was having to rinse the suds off, it seemed like way too much effort than was necessary to do. So this is why I wanted a foam gun instead. There are 5 settings for the amount of soap used A through E. E being the max will drench your vehicle with tons of suds, the downside is you’ll be out of soap very quickly! I found C to be the best for a large truck. I was able spray a coat of suds on one side and continue to spray as I used a wash mit. I washed my entire truck and had a little under a 1/4 of soap left. Detaching the bottle and using the pistol grip to rinse is awesome! It’s not a fan spread type, but more like a blast of water. You can quickly rinse the entire vehicle while removing any bug spots you missed. The quality of this product is good, the plastic used seems pretty durable. As long as your not tossing it around your driveway like a garden hose, this should last for a long time. If you’re looking for an alternative to a pressure washer, this is the way to go!It does a good job of applying a layer of soap on any vehicle. It doesn't really speed things up, but it makes it more fun to wash vehicles now. I am still looking for the ultimate soapWorks a treat and for the price better than expected.Great product had the original model before this newer version can’t fault itI bought this because I like the fact that you don't need a power washer to get a decent thick soapy foam on your car. I found using a setting of 'C' created enough foam to coat my car without depleting the soap in the reservoir. The nice thing about this sprayer is that any unused car wash detergent can be poured back into the bottle. I have used this item now for two summers to wash two vehicles - one car and a SUV. The sprayer is well constructed though mainly out of plastic, the parts of the handle that connect to the jar are made of brass.A couple of tips:1. As you will need to disconnect this sprayer to switch back to your regular hose nozzle, consider getting a garden hose quick connector with a quick shut off valve. I found this really helped save time in not having to walk back to turn off the water tap on the wall each time.2. Hose down your car with water first before applying foam to wash away and loosen the dirt and dust. This will allow the foam to help loosen the remaining dirt and dust that remains on your car's surface. If you wash with a mitt, consider getting a grit guard to put in your rinse bucket as it really does help remove the dirt from the mitt and help minimize scratching the clear coat. It's exactly what I expected. A foam wash sprayer that suds my vehicles. Easy to use, easy to attach. Connects to a standard lawn hose and sprays a good amount of soap suds. I use Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash for my soap and it works perfectly. Very convenient that the spray handle detaches easily for the rinse of the soap. Remember, this is not a high pressure foam wash so if that is what you want, this is not the item for you. But if you want a soap sprayer which disperses a good amount of soap suds so you don't have to use a bucket, this item does the job.Initially borrowed a friends "Foamaster II"... used it a few times before I bought my own.I only use this for washing cars.Pros:-Allows solution to soak onto car-Keeps soap clean vs 2 bucket method + grit guard-Works with any car wash-Has quick disconnect on spinner for easy transition from soap to rinseCons:-Longevity of the hand sprayer portion to be determined over a longer period (but can easily be replaced)Misc:-I have only used it with pure car wash-I haven't used it with other soaps / car+wax combo soaps-I always used it on the heaviest soap setting
